I feel like we all have a little bit of Snow Flower and Lily. We all have moments where we feel ashamed of our family, even when we shouldn't, like Lily. We all have moments, even though we deny them, where we don't feel comfortable with other people's way of life, like Snow Flower did with Lily's family.
While it may seem as though the era of male dominance is over I still see it our would. Employers still pick males over females simply because they are males. That is something today's society has in common with the time of Lily.
