This book made me feel happy, sad, nauseous, and scared at times. There were many, "feel good" moments in the book. For example, the times that Snow Flower and Lily were alone and just enjoyed each other's company. There were also times in this book when i felt very sad and depressed. When Snow Flower's son died in the icy wilderness, i was saddened by her loss. The most powerful feeling I got out of this book was nausea. When the author was describing Lily's foot binding, it made me very queasy and nauseous. I was also scared for the characters at times throughout the novel. Most so when they were in the forest and were almost waiting to be hunted down. These are my reactions to the book.
I just felt pretty sick when the author was describing the foot binding process. It was gruesome and very hard to read. I also felt a bit disgusted with the whole thing. The fact that women were so inferior and men were so superior mad me so mad. I was also angry when it was talking about how important beauty was. It's not all about looks you know!
